Did you know that you can donate tissue as a cancer patient even during the course of your treatment and through survivorship?
Hope for OTHERS is a research program that utilizes tissue samples from both living and deceased patients. Consent to donate tissue to research (e.g. breast tissue biopsy) can be given years in advance, just like organ donation as designated on a driver’s license.
The patient can withdraw from participating at any time, and the family will give final approval for tissue donation upon the patient’s death. Researchers will rapidly collect and preserve these precious tissue specimens. The donation of tissue to research leaves a legacy in the fight against breast cancer.
